A young boy was flown via medical helicopter
to a Philadelphia hospital to be treated for injuries he suffered when he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle Wednesday evening.
The injured boy is loaded into the chopper.

The boy, about 5 years old, and his father were riding their bicycles on Plaza Boulevard in the Americana apartment complex when the accident happened about 6 p.m.

Emergency personnel said the boy suffered head injuries when he was hit by the car.

An ambulance crew from Levittown-Fairless Hills Rescue Squad (web page) treated the boy on scene, then transported him to a shopping center at Plaza Boulevard and West Trenton Avenue.

Morrisville firefighters cordoned off an area of the shopping center's parking lot as a makeshift landing zone for a University of Pennsylvania helicopter.

As a crowd of shoppers watched, the PennStar chopper landed in the parking lot.

The injured boy was quickly loaded aboard, then the helicopter lifted off for the hospital.

Morrisville police were still investigating the accident Wednesday night.
